Philosophy

Quality is
a daily choice.

"Good enough is seldom good...or enough."

What "Quality" Really Means

We speak a great deal about quality at this office — and we do that because the word and concept of quality is the most honest way to convey what we believe: that our work is the best you can find, that we use the best materials available, and that your dental work will last and last.

Quality care also means your visit is as comfortable as humanly possible. That's why we offer Sleep Dentistry for any procedure — the ultimate expression of patient comfort. We also employ numerous little "tricks" that we have learned over the years that all add together to make your treatment as comfortable "as humanly possible."

Problems with dental work usually won't show up until a year or two after the fact. Poor quality isn't easily detected at first — which is why so many patients end up in our office asking us to fix work done elsewhere that was entirely avoidable.

Two principles to help convey this:

1. Just because a person goes to art school doesn't mean they are a good artist — and it doesn't even mean he/she could make a living at it, no matter how hard they try. This applies directly to dentistry. Without great hand-eye coordination and other skills, all the trying in the world cannot make something great. Dr. Boren was the top clinician in his entire dental class and received many graduation awards for his excellence and skill. This, combined with a perfectionist nature, results in quality work every time.

2. When you're shopping for a washing machine you can search for the best price — the best for the cheapest is a no-brainer. However, this same thought process shouldn't carry over to your dentist. Patients often look for the cheapest crown because "a crown is a crown and a licensed dentist is doing it." The reality is that you are buying skill, ethics, and quality — all of which differ greatly from dentist to dentist. You are not just investing in a crown. Investing in the quality of that crown is what makes it fit better, last longer, and look better. One good crown is far cheaper than two or three poorly done crowns you'll pay for all over again.

How We Deliver It

01

Skill

Just because someone went to dental school doesn't mean they're a good dentist — any more than going to art school makes someone a good artist. Skill requires natural ability, relentless practice, and a perfectionist mindset. Dr. Boren was the #1 clinical student in his entire dental class, earning awards in Prosthodontics, General Dentistry, and Implant Dentistry. That foundation, combined with 30+ years of daily precision, is the starting point.

02

Attitude

School gets you started, but attitude is what keeps quality alive over the long term. It's easy to get sloppy when you've done something thousands of times. Dr. Boren's perfectionism is built in — not performed. "The bitterness of poor quality lingers long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten" is a principle, not a slogan.

03

Materials & Lab

This goes hand in hand with attitude. The best skill in the world can't overcome cheap materials or a subpar lab. We will never send your crowns, bridges, or dentures to be made overseas. We use what we believe is the best dental lab in the world — made in the USA. We will never cut corners on materials. Ever.

Insurance & Quality — What You Should Know

Check out our popular in-house insurance plan—ask us how it works for you.

The most important things to understand about dental insurance

In nearly all cases, your dental insurance is more like a glorified dental discount program. "Preferred Provider" is one of the most misleading titles in dentistry — it simply means a dentist agreed to charge only what the insurance company allows. It says nothing about the quality of their work.

When a dentist's fees get discounted by 30%, something has to give. Often it's the materials. Often it's the lab — and many crowns these days are sent to overseas labs to be made cheaply. The patient has no idea this is happening.

At Dr. Boren's office, we evaluate your insurance plan and work with you on financing — but we promise to give you the best dentistry available regardless. Doing only what insurance will cover is a bad way to make decisions about what's best for your teeth. A single good crown, done right the first time, is far cheaper than three poor ones you'll pay for all over again.

Dental yearly limits are so low that if you have even a moderate amount of work that needs to be done, your insurance will max out and you'll be left with the remainder anyway. It's not a good idea to pick a dentist just because they're on your plan. You can usually take advantage of your benefits even with a non-"preferred provider," and if the work is good it is well worth the slight difference. Read about quality in dentistry

Don't Rush Into Your Dental Plan

We are now offering a very compelling in-house insurance plan that will save you money guaranteed. Ask Peggy for the details.

If it's not an emergency, take the time to get it right. Here are three steps to making better insurance decisions:

Step 1

Find out what services you actually need. There are often alternatives to expensive procedures, and extensive work can frequently be spread out over time to get greater benefit from your insurance and financial plans.

Step 2

Discover what your insurance will cover in conjunction with — or instead of — a discounted or flexible financial plan set up with your dentist. Often a discounted financial plan ends up less expensive than insurance coverage.

Step 3

Once you understand what you need, what alternatives are available, and what financial timelines work for your budget, sit down with your dentist and make your dental plan together.

We're happy to help you navigate your plan benefits personally, at no cost. Just call: (435) 674-9476

Why Choose This Practice

There are a lot of claims out there — "half-price dentistry," "same-day implants," and so on. We take pride in our integrity. We are uniquely qualified to give you straight answers without marketing pressure.

Dr. Boren was the first full-service implant dental office in Southern Utah. He was mentored by one of the pioneers of implant dentistry, Dr. Dean Doyle, D.D.S., and is an expert in all things dental: diagnosis, treatment, restoration, bone grafting, and more.

He also brought Sleep Dentistry (IV Sedation) to Southern Utah and continues to offer this safe, comfortable solution for any dental procedure — something very few offices can honestly claim. Because Dr. Boren is fully trained in all aspects of dentistry, he can give you honest answers and dental work that lasts.

Welcome to our office.

But How Do You Know the Work Is Good?

Nearly every office claims to do quality work — so how can you know for sure? It's a fair question, and we wish we had an easy answer. Even bad dental work can last a year or two before becoming a problem. After that long, who's going to connect it to what happened so long ago? That's exactly how consistently low-quality dental offices continue operating without consequence.

As the saying goes, "The proof is in the pudding." You don't know until you have enough experience to prove it. The best thing you can do is get advice from a friend who has had long-term experience with their dentist. We can also provide contact information for patients we've helped restore their dental health — patients who can speak to their experience firsthand.

Here's what good dental work actually looks and feels like: crowns shouldn't break or fall off. Teeth shouldn't hurt. Flossing between your dental work should feel just like a real tooth. Your crowns, fillings, and dentures should look completely natural. Cosmetic dentistry, the way we see it, shouldn't even be a separate category — we feel obligated to make every tooth look like the real thing with any work we do at all.

We aren't happy until you are. And we have the skills and knowledge to make you happy with anything in dentistry.
